Assistant Basket was an SARA soldier posted to Excoffon Labs during the Bionic Badger crisis, tasked with guarding the facility and any prisoners held there.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Ass. Basket was reasonably tall, with mid-length auburn hair. As well as his full military fatigues and beret, he liked to wear cool sunglasses while on the job. After his injury, Basket wore a gas mask obscuring his face and preventing wearing sunglasses much to his disappointment.
Personality[]
Basket never had much, but was somewhat known in the labs for being a pushover and panicky coward.
Skills/ Abilities[]
Basket was a competent soldier and faithfully carried out orders, no matter how morally grey. He preferred to fight with The Lucky Gun.
History[]
Compromisation of Excoffon[]
Ass. Basket was stationed on the grounds of Excoffon when the B.A.D. escaped, but had no role in preventing it until he heard the gas explosion Forsyth caused. He competed with another soldier over The Lucky Gun but lost. Forsyth moved them to a more critical strategic point in the base and ordered them to kill any small animals they saw. When Barry attacked, they shot maniacally at the beast, but Basket's companion was killed.
Injuries[]
Basket was slashed by the badger in the firefight, his grunting being heard by Forsyth around the corner. The mauling disfigured Basket's face but he survived, out of action for the rest of the fight. He recovered over the next few weeks in the base infirmary. From then on he had to wear something to cover the scars, mostly out of vanity.

Mayo's Mutiny[]
Basket, now wearing a gas mask because of his involvement in the DNEF, took part in the battle against Barry at Douglas Farm indirectly. He was the only SARA soldier to accept Mayo's new leadership when she ordered he watch over Forsyth while she lectured him. He agreed to do so unquestioningly, pointing a gun at the director's head.
Death[]
When Mayo wanted to demonstrate Nolan's new powers, she ordered Nolan kill Basket. With one quick touch to his chest, Nolan's fibrillator glove stopped Basket's heart, killing him instantly. Forsyth was afraid, Basket's meaningful death serving its purpose.
Trivia[]
- Assistant Basket was never intended to be a recurring character, but the similarities in the look of both expendable soldiers played by Iolo Ll allowed them to be combined.
- He is probably the only soldier whose uniform fitted him well, as all the military uniform he wears was bought originally to fit the actor.
- The character is not named in the film, but in one unused shot Mayo refers to him simply as 'Basket'.
